Brooklyn Philharmonic concludes its 2007 Mainstage season with The Ride To Redemption on May 12 at 8 PM at BAM. Music Director Michael Christie's final concert of the season will feature world premiere staging by Ridge Theater for Henryk Górecki's Symphony No. 3. The Ride To Redemption is the first concert in a three year partnership crafted by Maestro Christie between the Brooklyn Philharmonic and the revolutionary Ridge Theater company.
In their trademark style, New York's acclaimed Ridge Theater will create a visual accompaniment to Górecki's epic prayer for light. Ridge is known for their visual treatment of contemporary aural works, creating dreamlike environments in which performers seem to float within film and video projections ("Jennie Richee", "The Death of Klinghoffer", "Decasia Live"). In his ongoing effort to expand the notion of the traditional classical music event, Maestro Christie has forged a partnership with the company that promises to deliver a transporting concert experience for Brooklyn audiences.
Brooklyn Philharmonic is also pleased to be joined by Soprano Nathalie Paulin who will perform in Gorecki's Symphony No. 3 and Mozart's Exsultate jubilate, K.165. Also on the program is Paul Hindemith's Mathis der Maler.
