On Thursday, August 9, 2012, the pre-release benefit screening of Orchestra of Exiles, a documentary film about the genesis of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and its founder Bronislaw Huberman, will take place at the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center in Great Barrington, MA. Written, directed and produced by Academy Award-winning writer/director Josh Aronson (and featuring interviews with Pinchas Zukerman, Zubin Mehta, Itzhak Perlman and Joshua Bell), this film chronicles the development of the ensemble that was to become the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. Polish violinist Bronislaw Huberman's vision and resolve to save Jewish families from antisemitism and Nazism brings to light the amazing story of the founding of one of the most culturally enterprising musical organizations in the world.
Join director Josh Aronson and world-renowned violinist Pinchas Zukerman for a brief Q&A immediately following the screening. There will be a post-screening reception with Misters Aronson and Zukerman for sponsors at Castle Street Café.
Tickets are available at the box office, online at www.mahaiwe.org or by calling 413-528-0100.
Reserved Seating: $36 each ($25 is a contribution to the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra).
